Throughout the session, our featured speakers shared their insights on the strategies set to define the future of shared living, as well as on how to effectively navigate the challenges and opportunities of 2025.

Bart is a creative strategist & experienced real estate entrepreneur on a mission to build future-proof & sustainable business solutions with over 10 years of track record in the shared living scene.His expertise lies in creating new and revitalising existing spaces, envisioning their potential beyond ordinary functionalities. As the Founder and CEO of Spatial Experience, he has brought key developments into the student housing / PBSA and coliving / PBSL scene. He is also one of the Co-Founders of Coliving Ventures, the venture managed behind Coliving Insights, Coliving Conference and Coliving Awards.

Jo Winchester

Biography

Jo Winchester has been a leading valuer in the PBSA market for over 20 years and founded the student team at CBRE. In December 2023 her achievements in the PBSA sector were recognised by admission to the Property Week PBSA Hall of Fame. Over the last 5 years Jo has become more focused on the emerging coliving market. Jo is currently working as a coliving and PBSA consultant at Newmark, providing valuation advice to lenders and funding parties looking to deploy capital in this sector, demand studies for major planning applications and general consultancy in coliving.  Jo has recently written Newmark’s research, ‘Emerging Trends in Co-living’, which presents the results of their recent operator survey and the business case for coliving.She was part of the industry response group for the GLA’s coliving space standards published in 2024 and is a member of the BPF coliving Working Group.

Simon Chinn

Vice President, Research & Advisory Services, Urban Land Institute

Biography

Simon is Vice President, Research & Advisory Services at the Urban Land Institute (ULI), where he is responsible for managing its innovative research agenda covering the key issues shaping the future of cities and the real estate industry including climate change and sustainability, investment and development trends and shifts in demography and technological change.Prior to joining ULI, Simon specialised in research on global cities and real estate for Grosvenor, one of the world’s largest privately-owned international property businesses. Simon’s role involved undertaking analysis on global city developments to inform the company’s long-term strategy and thinking on cities. He has undertaken major research projects on megatrends for real estate, examining topics such as urbanisation, demographic change, digital disruption and climate change.Simon also has previous experience working in urban planning, economic development and strategic consulting for the retail sector. He holds an MSc in Urban Economic Development from The Bartlett Development Planning Unit, University College London.

John Badman

John is a Residential Leader for Gensler’s Europe region, who is driven by a passion for making the home an integrated part of wider mixed-use neighbourhoods throughout our towns and cities. With over two decades dedicated to residential design across the UK and Europe, John strives to imbue spaces with inherent value and experiential richness. John’s expertise lies in bringing together the specialists from within, and beyond, the residential sector to develop rich and purposeful places that people not only live within, but also feel a deep sense of belonging. He has dedicated 12 years to developing, designing, and influencing over 20,000 Build to Rent homes across the UK and Europe. John is an industry leader in the Build-to-Rent sector and was recently appointed as Chair of the inaugural ARL Design Committee for the UK.
